Letter to Fanny Brawne

August 1820

John Keats's final letter to Fanny Brawne (1820)

The famous Romantic poet John Keats wrote this final letter to his sweetheart Fanny Brawne before dying from tuberculosis—the disease that killed his mother and one of his brothers—in February 1921 at the age of 25. Although the two never married, Brawne was the great love of Keats's life, and his letters to her are full of the same passion and lyricism that is the hallmark of his poetry.
