IDNYC

IDNYC is a free municipal ID card for all New Yorkers that not only provides government photo identification, but can serve as a library card, get you free memberships to more than 30 cultural institutions, qualify for discounts at health and wellness centers, and a multitude of other benefits.

New Yorkers can sign up for an IDNYC card at several city locations. The cards will either be mailed to your residence or can be picked up from the sign-up location if the applicant does not have a home address. Please click this link to renew your IDNYC card or visit the IDNYC Online Portal.

You can make an appointment at any enrollment center by calling 311 or visiting the application website. As of December 31, 2023, The New York Public Library no longer offers IDNYC services at any of our branches. See New York City’s IDNYC site to find locations.
