World Biographical Information System Online (WBIS Online) is based on the digitization of K. G. Saur's Biographical Archives. It compiles biographical articles from printed reference works published from the 16th to the 21st century, and reproduces these original documents as facsimile images on the screen. Thus, WBIS Online features biographical profiles of people from all centuries as well as all countries and regions worldwide. In addition to 8.5 million digitized biographical articles, the WBIS Online database currently provides an index to 57 Biographical Archives totalling short biographies on more than 6 million people.
