The New York Public Library is pleased to offer library cardholders access to Pixton, a digital comics creation website for kids and teens.

Using their library card number and PIN, patrons can sign in to a personal Pixton account through the NYPL website and start creating comics. If you don’t already have one, you can apply for a library card online or at your local branch. Patrons aged 12 and under will need a parent or guardian to help them.

No drawing skills are required to get creative in Pixton! To build each panel of your comic, just click on preset characters and backgrounds from a variety of themes including superheroes, fairy tales, Black history, Ancient Egypt, and many more!

Getting started with your first comic is simple. Once you’ve logged on and made your avatar, click the red “new comic” button. Then select a background and a character (or design your own custom character) and add text, facial expressions, or poses to tell your comic’s story!

All comics are saved automatically to your NYPL Pixton account so you can return and keep working on them later or download and print them out.

Pixton is just one of the many STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) opportunities available for kids and teens at the New York Public Library. Discover everything the Library has to offer in terms of STEAM activities, programs and services, and explore our STEAM events calendar.
