Sunday Service Added for July 21, 2019 to Help New Yorkers Beat the Heat

With New York City temperatures expected to hover around 100 degrees this weekend, The New York Public Library has decided to open seven additional branches on Sunday, July 21, 2019 to help New Yorkers stay cool and safe. 

With the seven  additional branches, The New York Public Library—which serves the Bronx, Manhattan, and Staten Island—will offer service at 14 locations this Sunday; public library locations are considered City cooling centers. 

The additional libraries, which will be open from 1 PM to 5 PM, are:

Earlier today, transportation service Lyft announced that it is offering 2 free rides (up to $15 each) to New Yorkers heading to select public libraries to stay cool using the code NYCCOOL19, now through Sunday. More information can be found here. At The New York Public Library, rides to the following branches will be free July 18 through July 21:
