Welcome to our bi-weekly update on events happening during the next two weeks at The New York Public Library. With 92 locations across New York City, a lot is happening at the Library. 2/6: Films at the Schomburg: An Opera of the World: Filmmaker Manthia Diawara will speak with Amy Sall on the migration of the opera and will discuss stories of the crisis in Syria and Mali today. 6:30 PM,  Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

2/7: An American Marriage: Author Tayari Jones will speak with BuzzFeed News' AM to DM co-host, Isaac Fitzgerald, on her latest novel of an epic love story of a newlywed couple confronted by issues of race, incarceration, and loyalty. 6:30 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.

2/7: Uneasy Peace: Patrick Sharkey: Sharkey will discuss successful strategies for crime prevention and resolution, arguing that community-level organizing is integral to the fight against urban crime. 6:30 PM, Mid-Manhattan Library at 42 Street. 

2/8: The Legendary Maestro: Robert Shaw: A tribute presentation by Cesare Civetta that contains interviews, rare recordings, photographs, and a video of legendary conductor, Robert Shaw. 6 PM, Library for the Performing Arts.

2/13: Stories from the Borders: Authors Francisco Cantu and Lauren Markham will speak with The Nation's John Washington about their debut books on the intimate portraits of American immigration. 6:30 PM, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

2/15: Black History Month Concert: Harlem Chambers Players: Harlem Chamber Players will host their 10th Annual Black History Month Celebration. This concert will feature Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Nonet.  6:30 PM, Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

2/15: International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE): Phyllis Chen: Composer Phyllis Chen will perform some of her multimedia and instrumental compositions, including a step-by-step of her latest unfinished work Mobius. 6 PM, Library for the Performing Arts.

2/17: German Legacy of Song: Schumann and Mahler: Pianist Matthew Odell and his collaborators will perform  Schumanns, Mahler, Robert, and Clara  songs pulled from the Library's manuscript collection of Bruno Walter. 2:30 PM, Library for the Performing Arts.

2/20: The New Female Economies in China and the Muslim World: Authors Saadia Zahidi and Roseann Lake will discuss their books with Financial Times columnist Rana Foroohar and explore the revolutions of the rising number of women in the workforces of China and the Muslim World.  6:30 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.

2/21: 16mm Film Night: Early Shorts by Renowned Female Directors: Chief Programmer at Alamo Drafthouse Brooklyn, Cristina Cacioppo will screen a selection of early shorts by renowned female directors. 6:30 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.  

2/23: The Library After Hours: Young at Heart: The library's most celebral happy hour takes you back to your childhood for one nostalgic night of children's stories. Check out the collections of rare children's literature, create your own children's books, and watch classic cartoons. 7 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.

2/28: The Marhall Project: We Are Witnesses: Explore the American criminal-jutsice system and watch four videos through interviews with those whose lives have been touched by it. 6:30 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.
