We're highlighting some of our events here- including author talks, free classes, community art shows, performances, concerts, and exhibitions--and you can always find more at nypl.org/events. 11/15: Daniel Mendelsohn with Rebecca Mead: Fathers, Heroes, Sons:  Rebecca Mead joins with award- winning memoirist Daniel Mendelsohn as he shares his tale of his father when he found out his father was enrolled in his undergraduate Odyssey seminar at Bard College. 7PM, Stephen A. 11/16: Our Cornered Culture: Jonathan Taplin with Franklin Foer: Taplin and Foer will discuss their views on tech monopolies and the impact it has on the way we live financially and politically. 7 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building

10/30: Queer Horror Stories: Samantha Hunt and Cristina Rivera Garza, with Chavisa Woods: Garza and Hunt's new work reveals the special power of queer horror writing to defy norms of gender and sexuality.  6:30 PM, Mid-Manhattan Library at 42nd Street

11/1: Conversations from the Cullman Center: Songy of Paradise: Cullman Center Fellows Gary Panter and Dash Shaw discuss Panter's new graphic novel, Songy of Paradise.  7 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman

11/2: The Path Forward: Arlie Hochschild with Anthony Marx:  Arlie's Hochschild's Strangers in Their  Own Land  was named one of the "6 Books to Understand Trump's Win" by the New York Times.  A year after the election, The President of the New York Public Library, Anthony Marx joins Hochschild in a challenging discussion aimed at creating a  greater understanding and insight in a climate of increasing division. 6:30 PM, Stephen A. 11/2: Young Filmmakers Foundation Celebration: Through 16mm film screenings, revisit New York City in the 60's and 70's through the eyes, emotions and imagination of teenagers. 6PM, Library for the Performing Arts

11/4: Bernstein Findings: Copland's Keys: A collage of live performances, recitations and conversation that illuminates a pivotal moment in Leonard Bernstein's education.  2:30 PM, Library for the  Performing Arts

11/8: Schlesinger: The Imperial Historian with Richard Aldous and Frances Fitzgerald: Richard Aldous and Frances FitzGerald discuss the first major biography of preeminent historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr. 6:30 PM, Stephen A. Schwarzman Building 

11/8: Wayfinding: Teresita Fernandez, Isolde Brielmaier, and Eliot Weinberger, with Denise Markonish: Artist Teresita Fernandez takes the stage with NYU Professor Isolde Brielmaier and writer Eliot Weinberger to discuss the first complete overview of Fernandez's multi-faceted body of work in her new, visually arresting book, Wayfinding.  MASS MoCA curator Denise Markonish moderates the discussion. 6:30 PM, Stephen A. 11/9: Transformer: Mick Rock with David Fricke: Rock and roll photographer Mick Rock along with Rolling Stone's           David Fricke will talk about Rock's new book Transformer, a visual chronicle of Lou Reed's evolution through the seventies from the unique perspective of a close friend. 7PM, Stephen A. 11/9: Between the Lines: A Good Cry by Nikki Giovanni: Poet Nikki Giovanni pays homage to her personal memories of family, friends and students who have shaped her life and ruminations on aging. 6:30 PM, The Schomburg Center

11/2: Leadership: Become the Person Others Follow: The author of Leadership Step by Step, Josh Spodek will share how to navigate your business' greatest challenges when it comes to making great connections and becoming a leader. 6 PM, Science,   Industry and Business Library. 

11/7: CEO Series: Bernie Swain: The Chairman of the Washington Speakers Bureau, Bernie Swain  will share stories of the leaders that he has represented over the past 30 years.    6 PM, Science, Industry and Business Library.
