NYPL Kids Winter Break (December 27-31, 2010)
This winter NYPL brings a week-long festival of outstanding, exciting events for children and their families every day at the Children's Center at 42nd Street in Manhattan, the Bronx Library Center in the Bronx and the Richmondtown Library in Staten Island. Special performances include the Paper Bag Players, Jim West and his giant puppet friends and music concerts for the entire family. All events are free and open to the public. First come, first served.

Aesop's Fables
Jim West and Company present a puppet extravaganza with The Goose That Laid the Golden Egg, The Boy Who Cried Wolf and many more of Aesop's legendary fables. For ages 3 to 10. This event will be held in the Celeste Bartos Forum.

An interactive musical concert. For all ages. This event will be held in the Celeste Bartos Forum.

The Paper Bag Players Whoop-Dee-Doo!
From the tiny paper bag dragon named Volcano and the game show called Whoop-dee-doo, to a little boy named Boom, this show will surprise and delight you! You'll go fishing with Ted, Kevin and a Sea Monster; help Laura convince her parents to let her keep her new pet paper poodle; and kick up your heels to the Paper Bag Boogie. An electric piano underscores all the action, featuring amazing new music and songs. For ages 4 to 9. This event will be held in the Celeste Bartos Forum.

Klezmerfest presents 'Klez for Kidz"
This award-winning presentation for kids is a fast-paced, highly entertaining introduction to Klezmer music and its instruments, the immigration experience, and the Yiddish language. The show includes a re-creation of a shtetl (village) wedding, complete with chosen (husband) and khalle (wife). For all ages. This event will be held in South Court Auditorium.

The Art of Mime
Join Bill Bowers (Broadway actor and former student of famed mime Marcel Marceau) as he shows how the world of mime is much larger than being stuck in a box! Mr. Bowers will perform short mime scenes and lead participants in workshops to build their imaginations and mime skills. For ages 4 and older.

Do you believe in magic? You will after watching children's magician Evan Paquette dazzle you with his slight of hand tricks. Plus, at the end of the performance, Evan will reveal some of his secrets and teach participants in a hands-on workshop. For ages 4 and older.
