Mulberry Street Library Users Add Their Voices: Keep Our Libraries Open!
Users of the Mulberry Street Library are passionate about the library and its place in their lives. They are strongly opposed to the mayor's proposed cuts in public library funding and add their voices of support:
I for one was never a library person. When I walked into the Mulberry Branch my thoughts were completely changed. I see children reading and learning from computers and the employees are so eager to help and educate everyone. This would be a terrible and tragic loss to children and adults. Please keep this going for the children of the future!! —M.V.
I don't know what I would do without the NYPL. It's one of the city's greatest educational resources. As bookstores die out, it's great that there's still a place where you can go for a life-changing literary experience. Don't cut the budget! —C.B.
I've gotten most of my education in the library. My GED was achieved through the library. Please keep funding that has made my life possible! —M.A.
If "one in three people now rely on libraries for computer use and free Internet access", I'm one of them! —C.O.
