LIVE from the NYPL: STACY SCHIFF in conversation with Amanda Foreman

The distinguished biographer, Pulitzer Prize winner and former Cullman Center Fellow Stacy Schiff discusses her highly acclaimed biography Cleopatra.

STACY SCHIFF is also the author of Véra (Mrs. Vladimir Nabokov), winner of the Pulitzer Prize; Saint-Exupéry, a Pulitzer Prize finalist; and A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America, winner of the George Washington Book Prize. Schiff has received fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities, and has contributed frequently to the New York Times op-ed page. She lives in New York City.

AMANDA FOREMAN is an historian, born in London, brought up in Los Angeles, and educated in England: she received her doctorate in Eighteenth-Century British History from Oxford University.  Her book, Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire,  was an international bestseller and won the Whitbread Biography Award. The book also inspired a documentary, radio play starring Dame Judi Dench, and a film, The Duchess, starring Keira Knightley and Ralph Fiennes. Her new history, A World on Fire: Britain’s Crucial Role in the American Civil War, has just been published. Foreman is married with five children.
