Paul Yoon and Katie Raissian discuss Yoon’s story collection, The MountainThese six stories, following migrants and survivors across continents and eras, explore movement, history, and time in tenderly-observed individual lives.  

 

Paul Yoon, a Briggs-Copeland Lecturer at Harvard, is the author of the story collection Once the Shore and the novel Snow Hunters, which won The New York Public Library’s Young Lions Fiction Award in 2014. Yoon received a “5 Under 35” Award from the National Book Foundation in 2010.  His work has appeared in Harper’s Magazine, Tin House, VQR, The O. Henry Prize Stories, and The Best American Short Stories. He completed The Mountain during his Cullman Center Fellowship in 2015-2016.

Katie Raissian is an editor at Grove Atlantic and the founding publisher and editor-in-chief of Stonecutter, an art and literary journal.
