This year, award-winning novelist and short-story writer Yiyun Li publishes her first memoir, Dear Friend, from My Life I Write to You in Your Life. Written during a two-year battle with suicidal depression, it recounts a journey of recovery through books: the literature that gives Li life, the writers she cherishes most deeply, and the themes that bind their work. To mark the premiere of the LIVE season, novelist Mary Gaitskill (The Mare, Secretary) will explore with Li the central questions in the book: Why write? And why live?____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
