The Interview with Kevin McKenzie, conducted by Rose Anne Thom, was video recorded by François Bernadi on October 22, 2011, for the Speaking of Dancing Oral History Project.
This excerpt follows a question from Rose Anne Thom about Kevin McKenzie’s experiences as a dancer working with choreographers who were highly specific in their demands.  In his answer, McKenzie relates an anecdote about his first encounter with choreographer Antony Tudor, which casts intriguing light on the relationship between technique and dramatic imagination in performance.

The Speaking of Dancing Oral History Project was made possible by a gift from Anne H. Bass.  You can listen to the interview in its entirety on-site on the third floor of the Library for the Performing Arts.  A full description of the interview, including a content summary, can be found here.
