Special guest Jeri Sedlar, co-author of Don't Retire, Rewire! and senior advisor to The Conference Board on the Mature Workforce, discusses how people in their 40s, 50s, and 60s can transition into "encore careers."

Other panelists include Elizabeth Alderman, a former teacher who was named a Purpose Prize fellow for co-founding the Peter C. Alderman Foundation, an international organization healing emotional trauma in post-conflict countries; Catalino Tapia, a Mexican immigrant who started a landscaping business and recently won the 2008 Purpose Prize for founding the Bay Area Gardeners Foundation, a college scholarship fund for low-income Latino students; and Michael Watson, senior vice president, Human Resources, Girl Scouts of the USA, and a former IBM executive contributing his skills in the nonprofit sector.

This event was co-sponsored by the Encore Careers Campaign and the Purpose Prize are initiatives of Civic Ventures, a think tank on boomers, work and social purpose. The Encore Careers campaign aims to engage millions of boomers in encore careers, providing personal fulfillment doing paid work and producing a windfall of human talent to solve society's greatest problems. The Purpose Prize provides awards of up to $100,000 to social innovators, age 60 and over, who are creating new ways to solve tough social problems.
