Between 1998-2001, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts relocated its programs and services during a major renovation of the Library's Lincoln Center building. On October 15, 2001, His Royal Highness Prince Andrew The Duke of York officially reopened the Performing Arts Library's renovated Bruno Walter Auditorium, in a program that also featured Kathleen Chalfant, Patricia Elliott, Simon Jones, Sir Peter Shaffer, and others. The Duke of York's remarks from that program are excerpted here.
