As part of its series Mystic Chords of Memory: Abraham Lincoln and the Performing Arts, on February 5, 2009, the Library for the Performing Arts featured a re-creation of a performance attended by Abraham Lincoln on March 24, 1864. The program includes works by Louis Moreau Gottschalk (who performed his works on the 1864 concert); Beethoven, Ernst, Gumbert, Paganini, and Verdi. Bryan Wagorn, piano, with guest artists Emily Duncan-Brown, soprano; Matthew Wolff, tenor; Ilana Setapen, violin; and Nimrod David Pfeffer, piano. The program concludes with a performance of The Union by Louis Moreau Gottschalk, of which a sketch in the composer's hand is housed in the Library's Music Division.
