This abbreviated presentation features more than 800 images from the Library’s publicly accessible Digital Gallery. The images, culled from a broad array of the Library’s divisions and collections, are arranged into seven thematic groupings: New York City, sheet music covers, maps, advertisements, book jackets, faces, and Ancient Egypt and its influence over time.

In 1998, the Library launched its Digital Libraries Collections website, whose highlights included images of New York City taken by the photographer Berenice Abbott during the 1930s and 500 images from the collections of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. Today, the Digital Gallery allows the public free access to more than 740,000 images drawn from the Library’s diverse collections.
