NYC FIRST STEM Center @ NYPL Washington Heights Branch

Exterior of the Washington Heights LibraryNYC FIRST’s newest STEM Center is located in the lower level of NYPL’s Washington Heights Branch, and is a partnership between NYPL and NYC FIRST.

NYC FIRST runs immersive, hands-on robotics and STEM education programs that serve over 7,000 New Yorkers each year. Our mission is to inspire young people to be leaders in science, technology and engineering by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build their STEM skills. We seek to instill a sense of creativity and exploration, without fear of failure, that will get young people to think and act like scientists, inventors and entrepreneurs.

STEM Center Hours:

Monday: 12 pm - 7 pm
Tuesday: 3 pm - 6 pm
Wednesday: 12 pm - 6 pm
Thursday: 12 pm - 6 pm
Friday: 10 am - 5 pm

Open every other Saturday (start date TBD): 10 am - 5 pm

This STEM Center offers:

  • Hand-on robotics & maker programs for K-12 & the community
  • Workshops to program, design, fabricate
  • Credit-bearing courses for local high schools
  • After-school & weekend workshops
  • Summer programs
  • Mentorship and internship opportunities

  • Fabrication equipment & tools
  • 2D & 3D design software
