Charleston Library opened in March 2022 to serve the south shore neighborhood of Staten Island. This innovative 10,000-square-foot location offers two state-of-the-art community spaces and designated learning commons for children, young adults, and adults. Charleston is designed to offer an array of programming, classes, and workshops for all. This is the first net-zero energy library in New York City, featuring energy-saving elements like a solar panel array on the roof.

The library is also home to the artwork installation “Curiouser” by Mark Reigelman, commissioned by the Department of Cultural Affairs Percent for Art program.
