Donate Books and Materials
Thank you for your interest in donating materials to The New York Public Library!
The Library accepts donations of books, DVDs, CDs, and VHS tapes in good condition. All donations must be brought to the Mid-Manhattan Library (455 Fifth Avenue). Small donations can be dropped off at the Courtesy Desk on the First Floor. Large donations—more than one box—should be delivered to the Loading Dock. To arrange a large delivery, please contact The Book Donation Office at (212) 576-0040. The Library will send a tax receipt for the materials donated within approximately six weeks.
To donate materials directly to your neighborhood library, please contact your library directly. A listing of our 87 locations is available here. Information about donating books to our Correctional Services Program is available here.
The Library cannot accept school textbooks or materials in poor condition.
The Library cannot arrange for book pickups.
For further questions about donating materials, please contact (917) ASK-NYPL.
