For over 30 years, the annual Library Lunch has brought together the Library's friends and family to hear engaging and thought provoking speakers. On such themes as “The Making of the Making of a President: Politics as Art”, “New York Then and Now: 1911-2011”, and “A Conversation on the Classics”. Speakers have included prominent authorities from a wide range of fields—Nora Ephron to Salman Rushdie, Fran Leibowitz to Russell Simmons—and moderators such as Charlie Rose, Diane Sawyer, and David Remnick.
