There are over 4,000 small and mid-size businesses in Industrial business Zones in South Jamaica or adjacent to JFK Airport. Other than JFK itself, these areas are zoned for light manufacturing and include food processors, wholesale distributors, manufacturers and of course, transportation companies of all kinds. Industrial firms in these areas are provided with a range of free services under NYC Business Solutions Industrial and Transportation, a program of the New York City Department of Small Business Services. Greater Jamaica Development corporation is a contracted provider of these services, which include assistance with financing, navigating government, training, and access to incentives associated with industrial job creation and retention or relocation of an industrial business to the area.
