The New York City College of Technology’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) can help you understand the importance of a business plan; discover sources of funding; prepare for e-commerce; identify avenues for exporting goods & services; develop marketing plans; assess an invention’s viability; and comply with licensing & regulations. Services are also available in Mandarin.

The Pace SBDC’s mission is to provide in-depth and confidential one-on-one business advisement, training and research to help small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs launch or grow their business, all at no cost. From helping develop business plans to producing top-notch loan packages, from product marketing to regulatory compliance, experienced and NYS-certified business advisors have the expertise to help your business reach its full potential.

Services:

  • Consulting: Our New York State-certified business advisors provide complimentary and confidential consultations customized to individual businesses’ needs.

The mission of the Small Business Investment Company (SBIC) program is to improve and stimulate the national economy and small businesses by stimulating and supplementing the flow of private equity capital and long term loan funds for the sound financing, growth, expansion and modernization of small business operations while insuring the maximum participation of private financing sources.

The IBZ Department provides financial assistance in the form of loan packaging services to new and existing businesses that are seeking loans. They provide business owners with an understanding of bank lending practices; assist with filling out the loan application, help gather necessary documents; make sure the financial information on the application and documents makes sense; and help submit a complete package of information to potential funding sources.

SoBRO is contracted by the Mayor's Office to oversee and assist industrial/manufacturing businesses with any issue on an as needed basis free of charge. In partnership with NYC Business Solutions Center, NYC Department of Small Business Services SOBRO provides in the following areas- obtainable incentives, real estate opportunities, expansion planning and recruitment. Wholesalers, distributors, warehouses, manufacturers, construction  (electrician, restoration, etc), transportation and technology businesses are eligible for the IBZ Program.

SoBro offers assistance to 5 Industrial Business Zones. They consist of the following Hunts Point, Zerega, Bathgate, Eastchester and Port Morris. We provide technical assistance to businesses in these zones including financing, navigating government, training, recruitment, and access to incentives.

The South Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation (SoBRO) is contracted by the NYC Department of Small Business Services to provide FREE services to Manufacturing, Construction, Transportation, Wholesale, Utility or Film Production businesses in The Bronx:

  • Financing assistance
  • Recruiting and training employees
  • Incentives: connecting companies to tax credits and other incentives 
  • Navigating through government agencies
  • Workshops and seminars
  • Legal Assistance
  • Real Estate Assistance
  • Selling to Government
  • Advocacy with NYC on small business issues

Credit Inc. is a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) whose mission is to increase access to credit for small businesses in the South Bronx, but we primarily serve minority- and women-owned businesses.

 

The Entrepreneur Assistance Center (EAC), provides training, technical assistance and business development resources to start-up and existing businesses. The goal is to assist budding entrepreneurs to establish businesses and assist small business owners to retain their business. The program provides classroom training in basic business and entrepreneurship principles as well as individual technical, financial and management assistance.
