Use the search fields below to find hundreds of organizations in New York City that can provide you with help in starting or running your small business. Included in this searchable database are programs which offer business advice, loans, grants, location assistance, and a wide range of other services for small businesses throughout the city — often at no cost or for a low fee.
The Restoration Capital Fund offers a wide spectrum of financing for start ups and established businesses regardless of your credit history. Terms and eligibility requirements include: 12.25% fixed income rate; Terms up to 5 years; Businesses must be located in Brooklyn; Applicant must be a member of the Credit Union during the life of the loan; Collateral required; Applicants must have equity equal to 10% of the project's cost; and $100 application fee; 2% administration fee at the time of loan closing.
Partnerships and individuals/sole proprietorships doing business under a name other than their own need a Doing Business As (DBA) Business Certificate. File a Business Certificate form with the Count Clerk's Office in the borough where your business is located.
The Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation is a 501(c)(3) corporation that provides professional business advisory services through a collaboration with the New York state Economic Development Corporation. Established in 2013, the Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation Small Business Development Center is able to assist business clients with access to capital to: start-up a business; business acquisitions; 504 real estate loans; franchises; purchase inventory, machinery, equipment, furniture or fixtures; construction loans; and refinancing existing debt. We also provide business management consulting services for existing and start-up businesses for: business acquisitions and sales: financial analysis; loan packaging; and business planning.
Rockaway Development & Revitalization Corporation is the administrator of the NYS Empire Zone Program for the Rockaway peninsula. The Empire Zone Program enables RDRC to offer qualified businesses a package of economic incentives and utility discounts that support the local community
SIBL uses advanced technology to provide businesses with up-to-date information. Visitors to the Library can use its computers to access online business databases and the internet. Wired and wireless internet access is available. SIBL's Electronic Information Center offers hands-on, instructional classes on using the Library's licensed databases. SIBL maintains a full schedule of evening seminars and workshops on business topics. SIBL also sponsors an annual Business Plan Competition. SIBL houses a SCORE office whose experienced business executives offer free advice on how to start and run a small business. Call 212-592-7033 to make an appointment. SCORE offers free advisory, individual counseling from retired or active business executives on all aspects of starting and running a small business. SCORE regularly offers workshops and seminars on a variety of topics - International Trade, Writing a Business Plan, Strategies for Succeeding in Business, Financing a Small Business, etc. SCORE counselors are available on Wednesday 11am - 3pm.
