nexis.com is an excellent research tool indexing current
news, media, and business information. Check with your local
library to see if this database is available. If not, ask
them to recommend another newspaper index.

There are a number of tools you can use for
finding articles and other news items about specific companies. These
tools, which include print and electronic indexes and databases, will lead
to articles, press releases, and other types of company related
information.
Ebscohost's Regional Business News provides full-text of 75 business
journals, newspapers and newswires covering both metropolitan and
rural areas in the United States.
If you can't find your local newspaper there, search for it on Google.
Remember to put quotation marks around the paper's name. Google
also has a newspaper directory feature. From their website, www.google.com,
click on the "directory" tab. Under the News heading,
click on newspapers. Choose "regional" from the list,
and then select "United States". You can then browse for
a title by state.
For these and other online resources, visit the Resources section.
In addition to the examples listed in the resources section, there are literally hundreds of other databases of information about companies. Many of these databases require subscriptions, which are beyond the budget of most individuals, so if you haven't already done so, this is an excellent time to make friends with your local librarian!
