The Library in My Community
Our new building tour of the Humanities and
Social Sciences Library, designed for younger
students, introduces children to the beautiful
building and helps them understand the special
role that this great research library plays
in preserving our past for future researchers.
Duration: 2 hours. Grades: K-3.
Working with Primary Source Materials

Drawing from our vast collection of digitized
historical resources, we will
customize a class based on students’ current
study and research needs. This program
is especialy appropriate for History Day and Exit
Project Workshops.

My Neighborhood Then and Now
Using the collections of the Lionel Pincus
and Princess Firyal Map Division, students explore
a series of maps that trace the history of their
school's neighborhood.
Duration: 2 hours. Grades: 4 & 7.
Wanted Dead or Alive: An Introduction to Biographical
Research
This hands-on class will introduce students
to the wide variety of biographical resources
available at The New York Public Library. Students
will trace the lives of two individuals to contrast
ways of researching historical figures and ways
of researching contemporary writers and thinkers.
Duration: 2 hours. Grades: 7-12.
