<p>This is a synthetic collection consisting of manuscripts and correspondence. The manuscripts include an incomplete lecture and an article. The correspondence includes letters, dating from 1856 to 1899, from the author to Frances Eliza (Grenfell) Kingsley, Daniel Macmillan, and others, as well as letters relating to the author, dating from 1857 to 1864, between various correspondents, including Matthew Arnold, Charles Synge Bowen, Richard Doyle, Macmillan and Co., and others. There is also an undated letter from Richard Doyle to Hughes.</p>
