<p>Richard Aldington was an English novelist, essayist, satirist, biographer, literary critic, and translator.</p>
</bioghist>

<head>Scope and Content Note</head>
<p>This is a synthetic collection consisting of manuscripts and typescripts, correspondence by and about the author, diaries for 1933, an undated notebook, and financial documents. The manuscripts and typescripts include poems, radio talks, biographies, and translations by the author, as well as essays relating to the author by Frieda Lawrence and Walter Lowenfels. The correspondence consists of letters, dating from 1916 to 1962, from the author to Terence Ian Fytton Armstrong, Alan Bird, Rob Lyle, Thomas Moult, Rachel Annand Taylor, Louise Morgan Theis, Virginia Woolf, and others, and well as letters relating to the author, dating from 1930 to 1955, between various correspondents including Michael Arlen, Roy Campbell, Nancy Cunard, Rob Lyle, Thomas McGreevy, Humbert Wolfe, and the literary agency J. B. Pinker and Son.</p>
