Reference Correspondence PolicyStaff of the The Research Libraries respond to requests about Library holdings and for information on a subject within an area of the Library's responsibility that can be quickly answered. It is often necessary to refer requests that require more in-depth research to the Library's fee-based information service, NYPL Express. Requests for document delivery, including copies of articles, are forwarded to NYPL Express. Requests for photographic reproduction or reels of microfilm are forwarded to Photographic Services & Permissions. Current and retrospective books and periodicals can be found by searching the Research Libraries' online public catalog, CATNYP. The Staff of The Research Libraries can not undertake to appraise or evaluate books or art objects, do genealogical or picture research identifying the source or ownership of an image or work of art. Readers are urged to come into the Library to use our resources and expertise. |
