Find a Name

There are two ways to find a name in the database:
1. Browse the alphabetical list of names. This will give you an idea of how names of individuals and units are entered.

2. Use the Search Box to search by surname or surname with truncation (to retrieve variant spellings). To truncate, use an asterisk anywhere in a name or at the end of a name. (E.g., Wag* would retrieve Wagner, Wagoner, Wagstaff, etc.) You may also search for names using boolean operators, which are explained in "Find a Unit."

When you have found the name you are looking for, click on the name to go to the full record, which will give you the box and folder number of the soldier's file.
