What are the Division's hours?
Tuesday and Wednesday 11:00am - 7:30pm
Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 11-6
Closed Sunday.

Do you have a list of all periodicals?
No, we do not maintain a complete list of all periodicals. You can find out what periodicals we have by searching the catalog by title, subject (ie: Psychology - Periodicals) or keyword.

Can you make photocopies?
Yes, there are two self service photocopy machines where material can be photocopied. Periodicals cannot be taken out of the division.

Do you have a color photocopier?
Yes - There is a color copy machine in Room 315 (North Hall Reading Room)
Copies are 1.00 each.

Do you have daily newspapers from other major cities in US?
The current newspapers that are held in Room 108 are The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post. Daily copies of the major city newspapers are kept at the Mid-Manhattan Library, at 40th St and 5th Ave, for 3 months. Backfiles are retained in the Microfilm Division in this building.

How long does it take to get a periodical?
If the periodical is in Room 108, it usually takes 3-5 minutes.

Can this periodical be checked out?
No, this is a non-lending library. Material must be used in the room.

Can I find a specific periodical on the Internet?
Many journals are available in electronic format using a computer workstation at the Library. You can consult the A-Z list by clicking here.

Do you have a list of ethnic newspapers from New York City?
There is a useful directory called “Many Voices, One City,” listing ethnic newspapers in New York City kept at the reference desk in room 108.

How many years of a title are housed in the Periodicals Division?
The general rule is the recent 2- 3 years (there are exceptions).

I live out of town. Can I get a copy of an article sent to me directly?
If you are unable to visit the Library contact NYPL Express, the Library's fee-based service, at express@nypl.org.
