Ned Sublette, a 2003-2004 Fellow of the Cullman Center, was for seven years senior co-producer of the public radio program Afropop Worldwide and co-founded the Qbadisc record label. He has been doing research in Cuba since 1990 and for the last four years has led music and culture tours of the island. His book, Cuba and Its Music: From the First Drum to the Mambo, is forthcoming in April from Chicago Review Press.
