Bag and Coat Check Policy

For the security and comfort of readers, the Jewish Division requires all its patrons to check briefcases, bags, etc., including purses and laptop carrying cases. The cloakroom is located one flight up from the Jewish Division reading room, off the main (Fifth Avenue) entrance hall, opposite the Library Shop. The cloakroom attendant will gladly supply a transparent bag for writing equipment (and valuables, if you choose). You should bring with you to the reading room only the contents of this bag and/or a laptop computer (minus the carrying case). Coats, jackets, and hats may be checked or worn, but they should not be stowed on the chairs, tables, or floor in the reading room. Thank you for your understanding.
