Acknowledgments

Rodney Phillips, Curator of the Henry W. and Albert A. Berg Collection of English and American Literature and of Nabokov Under Glass, thanks the following for their contributions to the exhibition on view from April 23 to August 21, 1999 at the Humanities and Social Sciences Library:

Sarah Funke, who wrote the exhibition text. Her irrepressible wit and depth of knowledge of the ins and outs of Nabokov's books are amazing.

The writer's widow, the late Véra Nabokov; their son, Dmitri Nabokov; and Brian Boyd, who arranged and cared for the Archive in its Swiss home. Glenn Horowitz, who as agent for the Nabokovs was in part responsible for the Archive's transfer to The New York Public Library. Stephen Crook of the Berg Collection, to whom the present curator and Nabokov scholars now and in the future owe thanks for his five-year struggle with the monumental task of cataloging the Archive after its arrival at the Library. The staff of the Slavic and Baltic Division, in particular Robert H. Davis, Jr., Natalia Zitzelsberger, and Margaret Sandler, for invaluable help in translating from the Russian.

All those who generously lent materials from their collections to the exhibition: Dmitri Nabokov; Glenn Horowitz Bookseller, Inc.; Bill Goldstein; Eric L. Quinter; and a private New York collector.

And, acknowledging that everything done at the Library is a group effort, thanks to the following: For their eminent sanity and organizational abilities, Barbara Bergeron, Jeanne Bornstein, and Meg Maher. For patience, good humor, and clarity, Associate Registrar Caryn Gedell; and for keeping things in good order, over and over again, Assistant Registrar Patrick T. Day. For conservation of these treasured items, our wonderful colleague Myriam de Arteni. For design and direction, special thanks to Barbara Suhr. For their work in the preparation and installation of the exhibition, Cynthia Silva, Brad Johnson, Malin Abrahamsson, Eric Doeringer, Todd Kelly, Jane Moffitt, Scott Fernsler, and Laura McCann. For beautiful graphics, as always, Ann Antoshak. For assistance with the exhibition website, Stephen T. Ruddy. For Public Relations with verve, Herb Scher and Liz Smith.
