With the U.S. Supreme Court now in session with its newest member, Justice Sonia Sotomayor, come and learn more about what the U.S. Constitution means to you with a panel discussion led by Gloria J. Browne-Marshall, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY. The Dred Scott ruling of 1857, based on the constitution, said black people were not people and had no legal rights. Fast forward to 2009, the United States has a former Constitutional Law professor and in the White House a black president. The struggle for human rights, civil rights, and social justice has always raised constitutional issues
