New York, NY—The Council of Literary Magazines and Presses [clmp] and The New York Public Library present Periodically Speaking, a reading series providing a major venue for emerging writers to present their work while emphasizing the diversity of America’s literary magazines and the magazine collections of The New York Public Library. Each event presents writers from three influential literary magazines—one poet, one fiction writer, one nonfiction writer—introduced by their editors.

Salamander

Salamander, a magazine for poetry, fiction, and memoirs, was founded in 1992 by Jennifer Barber with the aim of publishing highly accomplished work by writers deserving of a wider audience. Salamander has received multiple grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and is now based at Suffolk University in Boston.

32 Poems

Founded in 2003 by Deborah Ager, 32 Poems publishes new poetry twice per year. Many poems from 32 Poems have appeared in the Best American Poetry and Best New Poets anthologies, and on Verse Daily and Poetry Daily.

Confrontation

Confrontation, a semi-annual born in 1968 at Long Island University, publishes all forms and genres of literary material, specializing only in the eclectic. It has published eight Nobel Laureates and many writers appearing for the first time in print. Each issue customarily contains a thematic essay supplement.
