Throughout the 1970s, Robert Altman directed some of the most iconic and influential films of the decade, including M*A*S*H, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, and The Long Goodbye. It's a widely held view that his career subsequently went into decline until he made a "comeback" in 1992 with The Player. In the interim, Altman continued to make films, exploring new directions, and producing interesting works, including a series of films based on adaptations of stage plays. 80s Altman examines several films of one of cinema's great filmmakers from this period, including Popeye, Streamers, and Fool for Love.
