The New York Public Library’s 96th Street Library To Close Until Fall For Building Improvements

The New York Public Library is upgrading safety and temperature control functions at the 96th Street Library. To facilitate these important improvements, the branch will be closed until the Fall, beginning January 14th.

The building will receive new equipment needed for the heating and cooling of the library – such as air conditioning units, the boiler, hot water pumps and piping - as well as a new, web-based temperature control system, to serve patrons more efficiently. Upgrades will also be made to the fire detection and prevention system, including new sprinklers.

While construction is being done, patrons of 96th Street Library can use the Library’s Aguilar location at 174 East 110th Street or its Yorkville location at 222 East 79th Street, where hours will be extended to accommodate users.
