April is Shakespeare month, and NYPL is celebrating the Bard of Avon with a weeklong series of free lunchtime lectures featuring five writers-in-residence. We are especially excited about The End of Shakespeare's Sonnets, which is followed by a reading of a selection of sonnets by Tony Award-winning actress Dana Ivey; Shakespeare's Mappery, which invites participants to peruse facsimiles of late-16th- and early-17th-century maps and atlases from the Library's Map Division; and Reading (Between) the Lines: Shakespeare's Old Ladies, featuring Academy Award-winning actress Estelle Parsons, who will "personate" selected characters.
