Schomburg Center Acquires Maya Angelou Collection

NYPL's Schomburg Center made international headlines when it announced that it acquired a one-of-a-kind collection of personal papers and materials by the acclaimed poet, playwright, and best-selling author Dr. Maya Angelou, documenting some 40 years of her literary career. The collection comprises rare, never-before-seen personal and professional papers, yellow notepads and original draft pages, including correspondence with luminaries such as James Baldwin and Malcolm X.
