NYPL President Speaks Out Against City Budget Cuts

On March 16, Dr. Paul LeClerc testified before the New York City Council at the preliminary budget hearing urging the City not to “close the book on libraries.” Dr. LeClerc noted that, “NYPL is facing the harshest City funding cut in its history.”  The impact of these potential cuts would result in a substantial reduction in Library hours and services, including free programming and classes. In the upcoming months NYPL and its supporters will continue their advocacy efforts to keep Library funding and services in place.
