Literary Magazine Editors Introducing Emerging Writers at The New York Public Library

The Council of Literary Magazines and Presses [clmp] and The New York Public Library present Periodically Speaking, a reading series providing a major new venue for emerging writers to present their work while emphasizing the diversity of literary magazines in New York City and the magazine collections of The New York Public Library. Each event presents writers from three influential literary magazines—one poet, one fiction writer, one nonfiction writer—introduced by their publishers/editors.

The Georgia Review
Since its inception in 1947, The Georgia Review has grown steadily to its current position as one of America’s premier journals of arts and letters. Each quarterly issue offers a rich gathering of stories, essays, poems, book reviews, and visual art orchestrated to invite and sustain repeated readings.
Editor Stephen Corey introduces fiction writer Anna Solomon.

Harvard Review
In the decade since it was launched, Harvard Review has emerged as a major player on the national literary scene with an eclectic mix of contributors in a wide variety of genres and literary styles.
Poetry Editor Don Share introduces poet John Hennessey.

Creative Nonfiction
Creative Nonfiction is the singular strongest voice of the genre, defining the ethics and the parameters of the field while broadening its impact through ancillary services and activities such as book series, conferences, education programs and the development of new writers.
Editor Lee Gutkind introduces nonfiction writer Meredith Hall.

Also, please join us for the 8th annual Lit Mag Marathon Weekend. Saturday, June 9th, it’s The Magathon, an extended reading by literary magazines editors at The New York Public Library, 5th Avenue and 42nd Street; and on Sunday, June 10th, it’s the Literary Magazine Fair, where it’s bargains galore—$2 a mag!—at Housing Works Used Book Café at 126 Crosby Street.
