Investment, Electric Power, Advertising, and New York City Subway Art Featured in Free Fall 2006 Programs at The New York Public Library's Science, Industry and Business Library

A wide variety of free business, engineering, and New York City-related programming is planned for the fall 2006 season at The New York Public Library's Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL), located at 188 Madison at 34th Street. Specialized lectures in conjunction with September's Advertising Week in New York and October's Financial Planning Week nourish the curious individual and business person. Public relations advice and website programs are available for the entrepreneur. In October, programs about subway art and bridge engineering give different perspectives on the Big Apple. Watching Wildlife
Thursday, September 21, 5:30 p.m.
Cynthia Chris, author of the book Watching Wildlife and assistant professor of media culture at CUNY's College of Staten Island, explores the history of the wildlife genre as programming on global television.

Advertising Week in New York

Douglas Atkin, partner and chief strategy officer for Merkley & Partners, discusses his book, which examines the techniques for developing buyer loyalty and brand identification.

The communications team of Roni Abrams and Paul Wrablica conducts a workshop on effective networking. Participants will discover the power of networking, increase listening and speaking skills, and learn to create effective business cards. Abrams is president of Roni Abrams Associates Limited, a training and management consulting firm specializing in interpersonal communications and networking. Wrablica is the founder/creative director of Full Circle Marketing Services, an agency specializing in business development and graphic design.

Art and Engineering of New York City River Bridges
Thursday, October 26, 5:30 p.m.

Structural engineer Satinder Puri presents an illustrated lecture showing how engineers built master bridges that are also aesthetically pleasing, and how artists including Edward Hopper, Georgia O'Keefe, and others were inspired to use them as subjects in their paintings.

The above programs will be held in room 018, Conference Center, Lower Level. They are free and open to the public. Seating is on a first come, first seated basis.
