Periodically Speaking presents "Speaking on Taste"

The New York Public Library and The Council of Literary Magazines and Presses present  Periodically Speaking, a free reading series

Periodically Speaking readings provide a major new venue for emerging writers while highlighting the riches of literary magazines in New York City and the magazine collections of The New York Public Library. Each free event presents writers from three influential literary magazines, introduced by their publisher/editors. Themes for the fall series focus on the senses: Seeing, Listening, and Tasting.

About the Magazines
With its first issue in May 1999, the Village Voice proclaimed that Tin House "may well represent the future of literary magazines." Now, with more than two dozen issues, Tin House has established itself as the new standard, where readers can expect the liveliest authors from a wide variety of writing, from Nobel laureates to new voices.

zingmagazine came out of the idea that within certain disciplines, artistic and otherwise, various cross-references occur. A myriad of different disciplines are explored in each issue: architecture, design, fiction, poetry, drawing, photography, video, music, fashion, as well as a special projects including books, posters, and CDs.

Mad Hatters’ Review (www.madhattersreview.com), is a tri-annual online multimedia magazine that features writing, art, and audio. New Pages calls MHR a “beautifully formatted…innovative journal. The fragmented and/or hallucinatory nature of individual contributions confirm the title's awareness of cultural poison and the need for respite of laughter and art.”
