Margaret Tice Chosen as Coordinator of Children's Services at The New York Public Library

New York,March 28, 2001 -- Margaret Tice was recently appointed as The New York Public Library's Coordinator  of Children's Services for the Branch Libraries. Ms. Tice previously served as the Coordinator of Community Youth Services at the Queens Borough Public Library since 1997. In her position as Coordinator of Community Youth Services she supervised CLASP (Connecting Libraries and Schools Project), the Latchkey Enrichment Project, and the KidsWorld Queens Initiative, a cooperative effort among all Queens cultural organizations that serve youth.

She began her career as a children's librarian at the Leonia (NJ) Public Library and worked as a children's librarian in several branches of the Brooklyn Public Library. During her sixteen years at the Brooklyn Public Library, Ms. Tice was responsible for establishing the Child's Place for Children with Special Needs. She also served  as Manager of CLASP and as the Assistant Coordinator of the Public Service Support Office.

Ms. Tice is active in the American Library Association and in the New York Library Association. She is a member of the Joint ALA-Children's Book Council Committee.  Ms. Tice has an M.L.S. from Columbia University School of Library Service as well as  an Advanced Professional Certificate.
