You spoke out loud and clear against a crippling $37 million proposed City budget cut – and your voices were heard. Mayor Bloomberg and the City Council restored enough funding to avoid closing libraries or having them open as few as three days a week.
While service will be reduced to an average of five days a week, we would not be at this point without your remarkable advocacy efforts.
Thank you to the 130,000 New Yorkers and others who wrote letters, donated more than $144,000 online, called elected officials, and raised their voices on the steps of City Hall. Thank you to the children who created artwork and the seniors who passed out flyers.
You demonstrated your belief that libraries are not luxuries.
Please allow us to keep in touch – your continued involvement is so important as we struggle to maintain vital services amid the serious funding shortage that remains.
