CCF is unique among organizations aimed at helping people reclaim their lives after criminal conviction. Many programs try to address the basic needs of people returning to the community after conviction and prison, but only CCF guides women through the stages of higher education while promoting their leadership, self-advocacy, artistic expression, civic participation and long term economic security.
Part of the Brooklyn DA's office, COMALERT is a re-entry program for Brooklyn residents on parole or probation, offereing a wide variety of services under one roof: drug and alcohol counseling, job training, literacy instruction, GED and college preparation, and referrals to transitional housing.
Staffed by mostly formerly incarcerated people, Exodus provides employment training and placement services as well as life managment training and support. The five day job perparation program includes resume writing, videotaped practice interviews, job research skills, and an introduction to email and the internet.
A community-based organization that serves young people ages 11-21 who have been involved with the criminal justice system and are returning to New York City. Among its services: counseling, leadership training, alternative education (GED preparation), a pre-employment workshop, and job placement.
The Fortune Society's mission is to support successful re-entry from prison and promote alternatives to incarceration, thus strengthening the fabric of our communities. We do this by: believing in the power of individuals to change; building lives through service programs shaped by the needs and experiences of our clients; changing minds through education and advocacy that work to rectify unjust and brutal criminal justice policies.
The Osborne Association assists defendants, formerly incarcerated people on parole and probation, prisoners, and their families. It offers a wide range of educational, vocational, support and health services inside and outside New York courts, prisons, and jail. Services include court advocacy, intensive outpatient substance abuse services, walk-in harm reduction services, intensive HIV/AIDS case management and support for families.
