On March 18, 2009, as part of the series Mystic Chords of Memory: Abraham Lincoln and the Performing Arts, the Performing Arts Library presented a program focusing on Lincoln's love for the works of William Shakespeare. The program featured readings by Philip Bosco, Kathleen Chalfant, and Richard Easton, with commentary by Harold Holzer, Lincoln scholar and member of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission. The readings were taken from Macbeth, King John, The Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, Richard II, and many other plays.
