The Caribbean Trade Center's mission is to develop, promote and sustain trade and investment between New York, the United States, the Caribbean Region and the international community. Services include: Trade missions to the Caribbean Region and other international venues, meeting with key government and business leaders; Acting as a Clearing House for Trade and Investment Opportunities; Business-to-business interface via electronic membership database; Promotion of global e-commerce opportunities via CTC website; and Participation in specialty trade exhibitions, conferences and cultural programs in partnership with Caribbean trade promotion organizations. Convene meetings for Caribbean business executives and government officials visiting the New York region

Founded in 1979, the Central Astoria Local Development Coalition is a not-for-profit community organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the neighborhood of Astoria as a vibrant, affordable, harmonious and desirable community in which to live, work, and do business.

Activities include: 

Assistance for Businesses -- With over 1000 Astoria businesses in its four business districts - Broadway, 30th Avenue, 36th Avenue and Steinway Street - the Central Astoria LDC:  

  • Advocates for services and quality of life issues.
  • Provides information to businesses regarding available business solutions programs.
  • Creates directories and brochures highlighting the community’s assets including: Dining, Shopping, Cultural Events, and History.
  • Provides marketing/promotional events for all districts. 

In 2013, NYCEDC and CFDA launched the FMI’s Grant Fund to provide local production facilities with funding for equipment and technology upgrades, employees skills training, business development consultants, capital improvements to their facilities, and relocation costs in New York City. FMI has also included business development opportunities for grant recipients, such as subsidized industry trade show participation, CFDA designer Open Houses and consumer-focused retail partnerships merchandising NYC designed and made apparel to a global audience. The initiative also seeks to encourage and motivate emerging and established designers to produce in New York City, strengthening the value proposition and consumer demand for locally manufactured products to a U.S.-based and global audience.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Inc. (CFDA) is a not-for-profit trade association founded in 1962, whose membership consists of 474 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry and accessory designers.

The mission of the CFDA is to strengthen the impact of American fashion globally by amplifying creative excellence, business longevity, and positive impact via educational, professional, and other resources and tools to help businesses and individuals in this industry thrive.

CFDA CONNECTS provides participating Regional Fashion Organizations with access to leading industry experts & resources to help increase awareness of their Market and Designers, amplify their mission, expand their reach and strengthen their connection to the pulse of business, commerce, media and trade in the American fashion industry and globally.

The Chamber Coalition - formerly the New American Chamber of Commerce [NACC] is a not-for-profit partnership whose purpose is to advance, promote and facilitate the success of Coalition Businesses. The African American International Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic American International Chamber of Commerce are the other Coalition partners. The Coalition assists its members by: implementing and strengthening local and national programs that assist the economic development of its members; by increasing business relationships and patnerships between the corporate sector and Coalition members; by promoting international trade; by monitoring legislation, policies and programs that affect the smalll business community; and by providing technical, networking and other assistance to Coalition entrepreneurs, small business ownersm business associations and professionals. 

Chamber On-the-Go is a mobile business support program that helps New York City small business owners like you access free services without leaving your storefront.

During an on-site visit, trained business specialists will:

  • Conduct a snapshot assessment of your business strengths and needs
  • Connect you with free resources to help your business thrive from the NYC Department of Small Business Services, Chambers of Commerce, and local organizations
  • Provide immediate business support and make appointments for future services
  • Answer questions and collect feedback on the challenges and opportunities facing your specific business community

CMP equips immigrants with the skills and network they need to be economically self-sufficient and contributing members of the greater New York City community.

One of the services CMP offers is the Entrepreneur Assistance Program (EAP).  It combines individual technical assistance with classroom training to offer a 10-week, 60-hour intensive training to aspiring entrepreneurs.  Participants finish the program with a business plan, complete with follow up support from program staff.  Individual Counseling is provided to clients in assisting them to actually go through the process of business incorporation, identifying and assisting in application of low interest loans, obtaining WMBE status, and referring them to professional resources such as legal, accounting, and taxation services.

CMP Financial Literacy Workshops and Topical Workshops such as social media marketing, MWBE certification, and government resources, etc. were offered throughout the year to support startup and business expansion.

Over the past 10 years, CMP Business Outreach Center (BOC) assisted over 930 entrepreneurs and small business owners through one-on-one counseling and coaching services. In addition, we hosted 712 workshops and seminars, helped 122 businesses increase sales by $4.2 million, created 137 jobs, and assisted businesses to secure $4.5 million loans and grants.

Established in 1995, CREDIT Inc., a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), offers three major services to small businesses in the South Bronx: 1) Loans that range from $100 to $15,000 from an in-house fund; 2) Loan packaging services for businesses that require loans greater than $15,000; and 3) Technical assistance. CREDIT Inc. helps businesses develop business plans, offers marketing assistance, prepares and analyzes cash flow projections, and assists with strategic planning. CREDIT Inc. also partners with other SoBRO programs to provide financial services and financial literacy seminars to individuals and businesses.
