Use the search fields below to find hundreds of organizations in New York City that can provide you with help in starting or running your small business. Included in this searchable database are programs which offer business advice, loans, grants, location assistance, and a wide range of other services for small businesses throughout the city — often at no cost or for a low fee.

SIBL uses advanced technology to provide businesses with up-to-date information. Visitors to the Library can use its computers to access online business databases and the internet. Wired and wireless internet access is available. SIBL's Electronic Information Center offers hands-on, instructional classes on using the Library's licensed databases. SIBL maintains a full schedule of evening seminars and workshops on business topics. SIBL's Job Search Central provides access to job-hunting and career development resources in print and electronic formats. The Center offers Career Counseling services on an appointment basis and has an ongoing schedule of seminars and workshops. SIBL also sponsors an annual Business Plan Competition. In addition, seminars and workshops are offered regularly on a variety of topics including How To Start A Business,International Trade, Business Plans, and How To Get Financing. The Bronx office is open Thursdays ONLY, 10:AM - 4:00PM.

SCORE regularly offers workshops and seminars on a variety of topics - International Trade, Writing a Business Plan, Strategies for Succeeding in Business, Financing a Small Business, etc. SCORE counselors are available on Wednesday 11am - 3pm. SCORE, Counselors to America's Small Business, is a not-for-profit volunteer association of business people who provide free confidential business consulting. A SCORE counselor will help you define your needs and evaluate your options. They will meet you at any SCORE office in the five boroughs. Counseling may take one to several sessions; but you will have someone to assist you with business problems. SCORE also regularly offers seminars and workshops on a variety of topics including How To Start A Small Business; International Trade; Business Plans; and How To Get Financing. SCORE's main office is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10am-2pm; Tuesday & Thursday 9am-4pm. No appointment is necessary. Note: There are other SCORE offices throughout the city. SCORE provides FREE advisory and counseling services to small business owners and entrepreneurs planning to start a business or currently running or growing an existing business – preparing a business plan, financing options, management issues. One-to one counseling is available on an appointment basis onsite, by email, and via Skype. Call 212-592-7033 to make an appointment. SCORE has an active Mentoring program and a regular schedule of low cost workshops and seminars. SCORE is a member of the New York City Veteran’s Business Alliance and provides advisory services for veterans planning to start a business or who are running an existing business. SCORE’s service hours at SIBL are Monday 11-5, Tuesday-Thursday 11-7, and Friday-Saturday 11-3. Other SCORE offices are located in the five boroughs. In addition, seminars and owrkshops are offered regularly on a variety of topics including "How to Start a Business" and "How to Get Financing." SCORE Chapter 476 has three Staten Island locations: at the Chamber of Commerce on 130 Bay Street (open Wednesdays from 9am-12pm, no appointment necessary); at SI Bank & Trust, 1550 Richmond Road (open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-12pm, no appointment necessary); and at the St. George Library, NY Public Library at 5 Central Avenue, 718-442-8560 on Saturday mornings.

The New York District Office is responsible for the delivery of the SBA's many programs and services to 14 counties in downstate New York. A Long Island Branch Office is located at 350 Motor Pkwy, Suite 109 in Hauppauge [631-454-0750].

New York State's Small Business Development Professionals can assist with problems with government; identify financing resources; inform small businesses of state regulations being developed; assist small businesses with state bidding opportunities; help businesses sell to state government; and plan relevant workshops and seminars. The program assists New York State businesses with 100 or fewer employees. The Program may also be reached at 518-292-5220.

The LaGuardia CC Small Business Development Center offers free one-to-one counseling to business owners and to entrepreneurs. Clients learn to understand the importance of a business plan; discover funding sources; prepare for e-commerce; identify opportunities for exporting goods and services; develop marketing plans; assess an invention's viability; and comply with licensing and regulation requirements. The Center sponsors regularly scheduled workshops and seminars. Services are available on an appointment basis.
